MASTERS---------------MARVELOUS!!
I don't think the vocabulary bank has
enough positive words in it to adequately define the GREAT weekend
at the 2009 MASTERS in HOTLANTA, GA hosted by the Paulding County
Model Association. CD John Baxter put together a team of
accomplished clubmembers and wives, friends and fellow modelers that
made the show greater than Ringling Brothers.
A few showers made themselves known on Saturday but did NOT deter
the success of the contest. Baxter skillfully used the time a shower
was occurring to hold the annual raffle. The lucky ones were:

Three regular rounds of competition were flown Saturday plus the
Annual "Fly-Off" pitting the number 2 points pilot against the
number one. All eyed the flights as only the one was flown at the
time with 5 judges scoring the flight. Judges from L to R were,
Jason Shulman, Ray Craig, Mickey Walker, Bruce Underwood and Ed
Hartley. The HIGH and the LOW judges scores were "trashed" by a
computer program prepared by scorekeeper Bob Wetzel. Sunday saw an
excellent fall morning with another round (# 4)., then former TOC
pilot and National Pattern Pilot Jason Shulman entertained with a
FREESTYLE performance of 3D maneuvers with a KAOS powered by a 2S OS
55 AX. This KAOS, in his capable hands, performed "Dido's" no one
imagined could be done with such a simple set-up. He concluded his
demo with a slow descent, torque-rolling to just above the runway
then gently "ploping" the model to its' landing. Amazing!

Russ Chiles will retain the MEMORIAL
TROPHY til the 2010 MASTERS in his home in Laurinburg, NC.
Congrats to the above for their performance, win or lose, when the
"pressure" is indeed the greatest.

Let me echo CD Baxter's gratitude to all who came and
participated in the 09 MASTERS...it was a HUGE success. The 2009
season has seen more growth than any one year in the past and with
the "birthing" of additional SPA Chapters in other parts of our
nation the prospects are for an even larger growth in 2010.
On behalf of our Founder, our Directors and Officers, our thanks to
every model fan who has played a part in this "FINE-OH NINE".
